In a case that has shocked the region, Palamu police have arrested four people for the murder of 22-year-old Amrender Singh alias Bablu, who was allegedly killed by the family of a woman he was in a relationship with.
The incident occurred in the intervening night of August 15 and 16 at Sua village under Sadar police station limits. According to a press note issued by SP Reeshma Ramesan, the victim was strangled to death and his body was dumped on railway tracks to make the murder appear as an accident.
Brikch Yadav – Grandfather of the woman
Kalawati Devi – Her mother
Yogender Yadav – Her father
Rakesh Yadav – Her brother
The arrests were made after Ravindra Kumar Singh, the deceased’s brother, lodged a complaint on August 16. Police registered the case under Sections 103(1) and 238 of the BNS.
Singh was lured to the woman’s home, confined, and strangled using a rope and a gamcha (traditional cloth).
His body was then dumped on the railway tracks between Chiyanki and Daltonganj.
Railway and local police found the body at 3:40 AM, and the condition raised suspicions.
Investigation revealed the body was run over after death to mislead authorities.
Amrender and Kajal (22) were in a romantic relationship. However, Kajal had been married off in 2022, and the couple remained in touch — a matter her family strongly opposed.
The murder was allegedly a result of the family’s anger over the continued relationship.

All four accused have been remanded to judicial custody, and police say the case was cracked swiftly thanks to close coordination between Sadar police, RPF, and GRP.
