In a significant crackdown, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of East Jaintia Hills Police seized a massive drug consignment from an MTC night bus traveling from Silchar early Tuesday morning.
The police operation, executed near Lumshnong based on a tip-off, led to the arrest of Amol Nath (42), a resident of Silchar, and Radika Ranjan Das, from Tripura’s Dholai district. Authorities recovered:
10.35 kg of marijuana
2,736 Tramadol Hydrochloride capsules
6,000 Nitrazepam tablets
Two mobile phones
According to police, the suspects are believed to be part of a broader drug trafficking network operating across state lines. A case has been registered at Lumshnong Police Station under the NDPS Act.
Investigators are now working to uncover both backward (supply chain) and forward (distribution) linkages to dismantle the wider syndicate.
