Pune Rural Police have successfully arrested three individuals in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Rohit Gadekar in Soratewadi, Baramati, on April 5. The arrest of Sagar Mane (25) and Vikram Masal (27) was made by Pimpri Chinchwad police in Bahul village near Chakan, while the main suspect, Amol Mane (27), was arrested in Bijapur district, Karnataka.
A Chakan police team, led by Assistant Police Inspector Prasanna Jarhad, managed to apprehend Sagar Mane and Vikram Masal after receiving a tip-off. The duo was found hiding in a cowshed on a hillock after the murder of Gadekar.
Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Kale of Wadgaon Nimbalkar police informed that the main suspect, Amol Mane, had fled the state following the murder. Based on another tip-off, Kale’s team laid a trap in Nidagundi village, Bijapur, and successfully apprehended Amol Mane.
During interrogation, the trio revealed that the murder was motivated by a money dispute. Rohit Gadekar had lent Amol Mane some money, and the victim had been harassing the suspects for repayment. On the night of April 5, following a heated argument over the issue, the suspects plotted to eliminate Gadekar. They called him under the pretext of returning the money and subsequently hacked him to death.
The investigation is ongoing as police continue to piece together details of the crime.
