Amjad Khan & Shamshad Akhter Arrested in J&K Drug Bust

Seven drug peddlers held in Jammu, Udhampur, Poonch, Samba

Jammu and Kashmir police have arrested seven drug peddlers, including a couple, across Jammu, Udhampur, Poonch, and Samba districts, seizing significant quantities of narcotics in multiple operations on Tuesday.

A couple, Amjad Khan alias Taiya and Shamshad Akhter alias Putti, were apprehended from a suspected drug hotspot in Sakinderpur Kothey, Bishnah area of Jammu. Police recovered 22.45 grams of heroin from their possession.

In a separate operation, Manohar Lal, a resident of Paddar, Kishtwar, was intercepted during vehicle checking at Jakhani, Udhampur. Officers seized 422.90 grams of charas from him while he was riding a motorcycle en route to Jammu.

Another peddler, Sunil Kumar, was caught at Tikri, Udhampur, with 472.27 grams of charas in his bag. Meanwhile, Inam-ul-Haq of Surankote was arrested during frisking at Fazlabad Bridge, Poonch, with 11.20 grams of heroin. All five were booked under separate cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Samba Police arrested two more drug peddlers, Kaka Ram (Samba) and Gurmail Singh (Amritsar, Punjab), during vehicle checking at AIIMS Naka Vijaypur. Officers recovered approximately 6 grams of heroin-like substance from them and seized their motorcycle. An FIR No. 127/2025 under NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur, and investigation is ongoing.

Authorities stated that these operations are part of continuous efforts to crack down on drug trafficking in Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring public safety and curbing the spread of narcotics.
