LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A 24-year-old woman was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly discarding drugs during a traffic stop in northeast Lincoln.
According to court records, an officer noticed a vehicle without license plates stopped at a red light near 33rd Street and Cornhusker Highway around 12:11 a.m.
While speaking with the driver, the officer observed the vehicle’s passenger, identified as Amel Hadgi, walking away toward nearby bushes. When police searched the area shortly afterward, they discovered a bag of suspected marijuana and another bag containing 32 suspected fentanyl pills.
Hadgi returned to the vehicle and was detained. She allegedly admitted to throwing the drugs and drug paraphernalia out of the car during the stop.
Police also found $529 in cash among her belongings.
Hadgi is now facing several charges, including:
Distribution of a hazardous drug
Possession of a controlled substance
Possession of money while possessing controlled substances
Tampering with physical evidence
Her bond is set at 10% of $350,000, and her next court hearing is scheduled for September 22.
