Lewiston Police Find Woman Inside Stolen Truck

LEWISTON, Idaho — A Lewiston woman is facing two felony grand theft charges after police say she was found inside a stolen box truck early Wednesday morning.

According to court records filed in Nez Perce County District Court, Amber N.K. Grimm, 38, was arrested on January 7 after officers responded to a reported vehicle theft near Pepsi Park.

Police were dispatched around 7:53 a.m. after a witness reported a box truck had been stolen from Liberty Mart North on 22nd Street North. The witness told dispatchers they followed the vehicle to the Pepsi Park area, where it stopped beneath the memorial bridge.

Officers arriving at the scene found Grimm seated in the driver’s seat of the truck. Police said she failed to comply with commands to exit the vehicle and appeared incoherent. Grimm was eventually removed, handcuffed, and escorted to a patrol car. Officers reported she was sitting directly on top of the truck’s keys.

During a search incident to arrest, police said Grimm was also found in possession of a company-issued gas card linked to the stolen vehicle. Investigators later determined the box truck was valued at approximately $18,950, surpassing Idaho’s felony theft threshold.

Court documents further allege that earlier the same morning, Grimm—who is listed as homeless—vandalized the interior of a local motel room after being allowed to stay overnight due to cold weather. While the motel declined to press charges, police reported that property from the room was later discovered inside the stolen truck.

Grimm was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail and charged with grand theft and grand theft by unauthorized control or transfer of property, both felonies. She is scheduled to make her initial court appearance Thursday afternoon.
