GOLDSBORO, N.C. — An 18-year-old Goldsboro man, identified as Amarrii Faison, is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly using fake PlayStation 5 sales to rob unsuspecting buyers.
According to the Goldsboro Police Department, Faison used social media platforms to lure victims, arranging in-person meetups where he would take their cash and flee without providing the gaming console.
The first reported incident occurred on August 27, when a woman met Faison on Harris Street to purchase a PS5. After she handed over the money, police say Faison grabbed the cash and ran.
A similar crime happened less than two weeks later, on September 6, at the same location. Investigators say Faison repeated the scam with another victim, again fleeing after collecting the money.
On September 18, a third robbery was reported at a residence on South Taylor Street, where Faison allegedly carried out the same scheme.
Following an investigation, officers obtained a search warrant for a residence on Day Circle. Around 4 p.m. on October 6, police executed the warrant and arrested Faison without incident.
He now faces two counts of felony larceny and one count of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon. According to court records, Faison is being held without bond at the Wayne County Detention Center.
Authorities are reminding the public to use safe, well-lit exchange zones, such as police department parking lots, when meeting strangers to buy or sell items.
