Thane police have seized mephedrone valued at Rs 14.24 lakh and arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the case, officials said on Wednesday.
Acting on specific information, authorities intercepted the accused, identified as Aman Tamin Gadkari, in the Kausa locality early Tuesday. Police recovered 71.2 grams of mephedrone (MD), a banned synthetic drug, from his possession, senior police inspector Vijay Kumar Deshmukh said.
The accused, a resident of Mumbra, was allegedly carrying the drugs with the intention of selling them in the area.
A case has been registered against Gadkari under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and further investigation is underway.
