ELK GROVE, CA — On September 9, 2025, a joint operation by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and the Elk Grove Police Department led to nine arrests during a retail theft sting at Lowe’s in Elk Grove.
Detectives with the Organized Retail Crimes Task Force made the arrests in just a few hours, with six individuals facing felony charges and five arrested under Proposition 36 guidelines. Authorities revealed that five of the suspects were already on probation.
Among the most notable arrests was a father-daughter pair.
Alvin Sloan III, 64, was caught shoplifting alongside his 17-year-old daughter.
Another arrest involved Aswan Demery, 42, who was found carrying a stolen loaded firearm, along with body armor, a police scanner, and binoculars.
