Son and Mother Arrested After Stolen Vehicle Crash and Foot Pursuit in Pittsburg
PITTSBURG, Kan. — A vehicle collision and ensuing foot pursuit led to the arrest of 18-year-old Terrian J. Williams and his mother, 39-year-old Denise R. Kimble-Hicks, police say.
Officers responded Monday around 11 a.m. to a crash at S. Locust Street and E. Jefferson, where a Ford Fusion driven by Williams failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with another vehicle. No injuries were reported, and both cars were towed.
Williams’ Ford Fusion was reported stolen from a co-worker at Stockade Brands, the police said. When questioned about the theft, Williams fled on foot, prompting a multi-agency pursuit that ended near E. Adams Street.
During the standoff, Williams reportedly threw objects at officers and threatened them with a gun. Police used a Taser to subdue him after he refused to surrender.
Kimble-Hicks, who was in the vehicle during the crash, became belligerent and refused to follow police commands, resulting in her arrest.
Williams faces multiple felony charges, including aggravated assault on law enforcement, theft, interference with law enforcement, criminal threat, and misdemeanor criminal damage. He was also arrested the previous day for domestic battery.
Kimble-Hicks was charged with felony interference with law enforcement. Both remain in custody without bond, according to the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.
