FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Alisha Gomez Sosa, 36, from Hallandale Beach, turned herself in to authorities at the Broward County Courthouse on Thursday, facing accusations of a 2024 retail theft spree. The thefts took place across multiple stores in Broward County, with Gomez Sosa allegedly stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of merchandise in several incidents.
In some of the thefts, police say Gomez Sosa was accompanied by others, including an associate, Eric Manning, 28, of Davie. According to Broward court records, the thefts occurred at various locations, including at least four stores in Coral Springs and a Sephora in Davie.
Reports indicate that Gomez Sosa’s stolen goods included a range of products, from consumer and beauty items to baby products. At a Target in Coral Springs and a Walgreens on University Drive, she allegedly took items worth over $1,300, such as Flonase nasal spray, Nicorette gum, bathing suits, and a baby stroller. On March 5, Gomez Sosa even involved several young girls during the theft at Walgreens.
In a separate incident on September 18, Gomez Sosa and Manning allegedly stole goods worth $5,000 from two Publix stores in Coral Springs. Surveillance footage shows Manning filling a trash bin with stolen items, while Gomez Sosa was seen taking multiple boxes of diapers.
Manning was arrested earlier this month, on January 10, while Gomez Sosa turned herself in on January 25. Both face multiple felony charges, and Gomez Sosa is being held on a $15,000 bond at the North Broward Bureau facility in Pompano Beach, while Manning remains in jail without bond.
This series of thefts highlights the scale of the retail crime in Broward County and has raised concerns among local businesses and authorities.
