A 36-year-old man, Ali Mohammad, was arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 25 lakh in cash and valuables from a house in Sahibabad.
According to police, Ali Mohammad, who resides in Seemapuri, Delhi, was apprehended following a complaint lodged on October 28 by Manish Sharma, a resident of HIG in Sector 5, Rajendra Nagar. Sharma reported that his house was burgled while he and his family were asleep. The thief allegedly made away with Rs 6 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 25 lakh.
A case was registered under BNS sections 305 (theft) and 331(4) (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night to commit an offence). Police teams tracked down and arrested Ali Mohammad near the underpass close to Sahibabad railway station.
The ACP stated, “Police recovered Rs 87,000 in cash along with other valuables worth Rs 25 lakh from the accused. The remaining stolen money had been spent by him.”
