Acting on a tip-off, a team of police led by Kamrup District Additional Superintendent Kalyan Pathak intercepted a Mahindra Bolero (AS01FR2311) on Wednesday afternoon and seized 121 grams of heroin concealed in 10 soap boxes. The operation took place as the vehicle was en route from Guwahati to Mankachar.
The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is Rs1 crore, said the police.
Four individuals have been arrested in connection with the case. The accused are identified as Ali Hussain, Ebat Hussain, Akhinul Islam, and Nur Alam — all residents of areas under the Mankachar Police Station jurisdiction.
Speaking to the media, Additional SP Kalyan Pathak confirmed that the raid was part of a targeted operation following credible intelligence. The Boko Police have launched a full investigation into the drug trafficking network possibly operating in the region.
The accused are expected to face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
