EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA — A newly hired East Baton Rouge Parish Prison employee was arrested and fired less than two weeks into her job following allegations of domestic violence.
According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office (EBRSO), 31-year-old Alezsha Evans was hired as a corrections officer on Wednesday, May 28. She was placed on administrative leave by Sunday, June 8, after being accused of domestic abuse.
An arrest report states that Evans allegedly choked the victim from behind and struck them multiple times with an object during the incident. Following the investigation, officials confirmed that Evans was terminated from her position.
She was arrested and booked into the EBR Parish Prison on Tuesday evening, June 10, and is now facing charges of domestic abuse battery and simple criminal damage to property.
Authorities say they acted swiftly once all evidence was collected, underscoring the department’s commitment to maintaining high standards of conduct within the correctional system.
