Alexis Wilhite Arrested After Evansville Shooting and Hit-and-Run

21-year-old charged after fatal shooting and vehicle-related injury

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Evansville Police Department has arrested 21-year-old Alexis Wilhite in connection with a fatal shooting and subsequent hit-and-run incident that occurred Sunday.

According to a press release, officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of Taylor Avenue. One person was shot and later died from their injuries, while multiple others sustained gunshot wounds.

During the chaotic aftermath, Wilhite allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle and struck a pedestrian, causing serious bodily injury. Authorities say she did not stop to assist the victim or report the accident.

Wilhite has been charged with:

Leaving the scene of an accident with injury

Driving with a suspended license with injury

The shooting investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may follow.
