Alexis Herrera Arrested for $300K Baggage Payout Theft

Ex-Allegiant Air worker accused of embezzling funds

A former Allegiant Air employee, Alexis Herrera, has been arrested and charged with felony theft after allegedly embezzling nearly $300,000 in customer baggage settlement funds. The Las Vegas-based airline claims the funds were meant to compensate passengers for lost or damaged luggage.

Clark County jail records show that 28-year-old Herrera was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on June 6. She is facing one felony count of theft exceeding $100,000.

The alleged theft came to light after Allegiant filed a lawsuit against Herrera in December 2024. The company accused her of systematically diverting settlement funds while serving as a system baggage service coordinator. Herrera, who joined the company in 2017, was promoted to the role in August 2022, giving her direct access to process baggage-related payments.

According to court documents, Allegiant claims that from late 2022 through fall 2024, Herrera manipulated 83 transactions and redirected the funds into her personal bank account. The company launched an internal investigation after a customer reported not receiving a settlement. What began as a routine check soon uncovered multiple fraudulent transactions linked to Herrera’s email addresses.

Upon being confronted by supervisors, Herrera reportedly confessed to falsifying records and misdirecting the payments to her own account. She was suspended following the admission and later terminated. Although she initially agreed to repay the amount, Allegiant alleges she failed to follow through.

In February, District Court Judge Anna Albertson ruled in favor of Allegiant, awarding the airline over $260,000 in a default judgment against Herrera.

Herrera’s attorney, Joshua Tomsheck, declined to comment. Jail records show Herrera is no longer in custody.
