JONESBORO, Ark. — A Jonesboro woman already on a suspended sentence was arrested last week for allegedly attempting to commit forgery at a local business.
According to a probable-cause affidavit, officers were notified on Dec. 5 of a forgery attempt at a business on East Johnson Avenue. The business owner reported that 27-year-old Alexis Goodman endorsed and presented a forged check as payment for cleaning services, requesting it to be cashed at the counter. The owner discovered the check was fraudulent before completing the transaction, and Goodman left without receiving payment.
Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the business and positively identified Goodman by comparing the footage to her driver’s license photograph. A bench warrant was issued on Dec. 12, and Goodman was arrested on Dec. 14 and taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.
Goodman was charged with second-degree forgery, a Class C felony, and theft, a misdemeanor. During her court appearance, District Judge David Boling set bail at $25,000 cash or surety, noting her ongoing parole status that must be resolved before release.
Her next court appearance is scheduled for Jan. 23.
