Alexis Adams Arrested After Vehicle Theft, Chase

Stolen car tracked by GPS, suspect caught in Jones County

KINSTON, N.C. — A Kinston woman was arrested after allegedly stealing a vehicle and leading authorities on a short chase in Jones County, police said.

On July 25, 2025, officers from the Kinston Police Department’s B-Squad responded to a motor vehicle theft on Duggins Drive. While on scene, the vehicle owner provided GPS data that pinpointed the car’s location in Jones County.

Kinston officers quickly coordinated with the Jones County Sheriff’s Office, which located the stolen vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The driver, later identified as 27-year-old Alexis Adams of Kinston, refused to pull over, initiating a brief pursuit.

Adams was taken into custody shortly afterward and booked into the Jones County Jail. She faces charges of Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

The Kinston Police Department expressed gratitude for the swift assistance from Jones County deputies and emphasized its ongoing commitment to recovering stolen property and holding offenders accountable.
