RUMFORD, Maine — A Rumford man is facing multiple felony drug charges and child endangerment offenses following a Wednesday search of his home.
The Rumford Police Department received community tips about illegal firearms and drug trafficking at 244 Pine Street. After a thorough investigation, police obtained a search warrant, leading to a coordinated operation with the Norway police, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and U.S. Border Patrol.
Officers executed the search in two teams: one entered the residence, while the other stopped the suspect, 33-year-old Alexander Taylor Kubesh, on Lincoln Avenue.
Inside the home, officers discovered severely unsanitary and unsafe living conditions that posed significant health risks to two young children, ages 4 and 5, and two dogs. The children were placed into the care of the Department of Health and Human Services Child Protective Services, and the animals were taken by the Rumford animal control officer.
The search also uncovered illegal substances, including crack cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and processed marijuana. Firearms were not found at the residence.
Kubesh, who has a criminal history including drug trafficking and probation violations, was arrested and charged with several felony offenses:
Felony possession of crack cocaine
Felony possession of fentanyl
Felony possession of methamphetamine
Two counts of endangering the welfare of a child
Kubesh was transported to the Oxford County Jail in South Paris and is scheduled for arraignment on Friday.
