TOLEDO, OH — Toledo Police have arrested Alexander Butler, 23, in connection with the death of 11-month-old Winsley Raymundo, who died from a blunt force head injury.
According to police, officers responded to Butler’s residence on July 17 after receiving a report of an injured child. The infant was found unresponsive and transported to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
An affidavit states that Butler was alone with the child when the incident occurred. Although Butler told investigators the injury was accidental, medical evidence and witness statements contradict his account. Authorities concluded that the injury was not consistent with an accident.
Butler, who is reportedly the boyfriend of the child’s mother, was arrested and booked into the Lucas County Corrections Center on child endangerment charges.
In addition, Butler faces a separate criminal trespassing charge for an incident at the hospital the next day, July 18, where he reportedly refused to leave the premises after being instructed multiple times.
