Alejandro Cardoza Charged After Danville Police Chase

Suspect found hiding after fleeing in stolen vehicle

DANVILLE, Ill. — A Danville man faces multiple felony charges after leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle on Sunday, June 15, according to the Danville Police Department.

Around 8 p.m., an officer spotted a stolen vehicle in the 100 block of North Bowman Avenue. When the officer attempted a stop, the driver initially complied but then sped off.

With assistance from residents, officers located the abandoned vehicle in the 600 block of Dearborn Street. The driver had already fled the scene.

A K9 unit was deployed, and officers found the suspect hiding in dense brush about four blocks away. He was arrested and identified as 42-year-old Alejandro Cardoza.

Cardoza has been charged with:

Possession of a stolen vehicle

Driving with a suspended license

Aggravated fleeing and eluding

Obstructing/resisting a peace officer

Criminal damage to property

He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
