Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday arrested five suspected drug peddlers, including a woman, in separate anti-narcotics operations across Kupwara, Shopian, and Pulwama districts, seizing large quantities of contraband including charas and 95kg of narcotic substances.

In a significant development, Alaf Noor, a resident of Khawarpara, Karnah, was arrested at Sadhna Top during a routine checkpoint search. A substantial quantity of narcotics was recovered from her possession.

“A case has been registered under the relevant sections. Investigations are ongoing to trace the drug’s source and any cross-border linkages,” a police spokesperson said.

In a separate incident, Syed Aijaz Ahmad Shah and Syed Ahmad Shah, both from Kakadpati Dever, were caught with charas during a patrol in the Kariwan Park area. Legal action has been initiated, and further questioning is underway.

In south Kashmir’s Shopian, Showkat Ahmad Thoker of Ramnagri was arrested near Government Higher Secondary School Hermain during a routine check. He was found in possession of 164 grams of a charas-like substance.

A major breakthrough occurred in Awantipora, Pulwama, where acting on a tip-off, police raided a rented house in Grendash. The premises, linked to Mukhtar Ahmed Boked from Jammu, yielded six bags with approximately 95 kilograms of Fukki, a narcotic substance.

During the operation, Parvez Ahmed Boked was arrested, while Mukhtar Boked remains absconding. Authorities have launched a manhunt to nab the prime accused.
