Muvattupuzha police arrested 20-year-old Al Sabith from Pineapple City, Paipra, for allegedly stealing a Swift car and illegally changing its number plate. The theft occurred on the morning of July 4, when Sabith reportedly took the vehicle from a parking area in Karuttukavu.
On the same day, Sabith drove the stolen car to Thiruvananthapuram, where he modified the vehicle and fitted a fake number plate. Police apprehended him during a ride with a woman friend he met on Instagram.
Authorities are investigating whether Sabith is connected to other similar crimes.
In a related case, police arrested 44-year-old Moncy Varghese from Velloorkunnam for vandalism. Varghese allegedly damaged a two-wheeler by throwing it into a canal, set a motorcycle on fire, and threatened family members who filed a complaint against him. The incident stemmed from personal enmity.
