Shreveport police have arrested Akira Thomas and are searching for De’Asia Holmes in connection to a series of cell phone thefts linked to the dating app Bumble.

The investigation began last month after a victim’s blue iPhone 15 Pro, valued at $1,099, was stolen during a meeting at 9100 Walker Road. Thomas, posing as “Asia” on Bumble, used the stolen phone to access the victim’s Cash App and PayPal accounts, stealing over $4,300. Dash camera footage captured the encounter, and Thomas was later identified in a photo lineup.

A second victim reported a similar scam on June 8 involving a gray Samsung S24 Ultra, valued at $1,300. De’Asia Holmes, also using the name “Asia” on Bumble, took the phone under false pretenses and never returned it, resulting in unauthorized transactions totaling over $600. Holmes was also positively identified through a photo lineup.

The stolen profile photos used by the suspects belonged to an unrelated woman unaware of their misuse.

Thomas was arrested at her workplace, while Holmes faces charges for theft and access device fraud, with a $20,000 bond set. Authorities ask anyone with information on Holmes’ whereabouts to contact Shreveport Police or Caddo Crime Stoppers.
