Hubballi: The Hubballi Rural Police have arrested two accused in connection with a robbery and extortion case reported on February 23, recovering stolen property and assets worth Rs5.8 lakh.
According to Gunjan Arya, Superintendent of Police, the incident occurred around 6:30 pm on the Deveragudihal–Revadihal Road when a couple was seated inside their car discussing personal matters. Two men arrived on a motorcycle, allegedly threatened the couple, forcibly pulled the husband out of the vehicle, and robbed him of a 35-gram gold chain and Rs4,500 in cash.
Following the complaint, a special police team led by Inspector MR Channannavar, PSI Imran Pathan, and ASIs NM Honnappanavar and Nandish Vadrale launched an investigation and tracked down the suspects.
On March 2, police arrested Akash alias Anta Akash Hanumantappa Singanalli and Raju alias Rajashekhar Dayanand Pavate, both residents of Hubballi. Authorities recovered the stolen gold chain, cash, and the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime.
Police said further investigation is underway to determine if the accused were involved in similar offences in the region.
