The Crime Branch of Indore Police on Friday apprehended 21-year-old Akash Gokhale, alias Gandhi, for his involvement in the Seema Nath drug network. A resident of Dhar Road, Gokhale was found in possession of 32 grams of brown sugar, valued at approximately Rs6.4 lakh in the international market.
The arrest was made following a tip-off received during the interrogation of Seema Nath, the alleged kingpin of the gang. Nath, who was earlier arrested from her residence in Ahirkhedi’s Nath Mohalla, had 516 grams of brown sugar and Rs48.5 lakh in cash seized from her home.
Based on her disclosure, police traced Gokhale to his residence. During a raid, officers recovered the narcotics hidden under his bed. A case has been registered under Sections 8/21 and 8/29 of the NDPS Act.
Officials confirmed that Gokhale is a habitual offender, previously jailed in nearly six cases. He is now the third individual arrested in connection with this high-profile drug ring.
Indore police have reiterated their commitment to cracking down on narcotics trafficking, with enhanced surveillance and targeted operations against known drug dealers across the city.
