In a late-night operation on Tuesday, the Fort Police in Thiruvananthapuram arrested a 23-year-old man with 14 grams of MDMA during a patrol near the Kochuveli railway station.
The accused, identified as Akash, son of Ajikumar from near Punnakkamugal in Thirumala, was spotted behaving suspiciously on the Veli–Venpalavattom road near the station. Upon questioning, Akash gave vague responses, prompting the police to inspect his belongings. They discovered two polythene packets containing MDMA inside his bag.
According to police, Akash confessed he was waiting for customers to sell the drug but refused to disclose their identities. His mobile phone was seized, and authorities are currently examining his call logs and chat history to identify other individuals linked to the narcotics racket.
Police revealed that Akash had been actively selling drugs for the past three years, sourcing MDMA from Bengaluru for distribution in Kerala.
He was booked under Section 22(c) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, and was remanded to judicial custody after being produced before a court.
