Akash and Kartik Arrested for Stealing Temple Donation Box in Tilak Nagar

Two accused nabbed for theft of donation box and idol from temples in Mumbai

In a swift action following a complaint, police arrested two men accused of stealing a donation box and cash from a temple in the Tilak Nagar area. The accused, Akash (22) and Kartik (18), both residents of Banganga, were apprehended on Monday.

According to police reports, the theft occurred around 3 a.m. on Friday when an unknown individual took an 8 kg red donation box from a temple near the complainant’s residence. The police launched an investigation and reviewed CCTV footage from the area. Based on the images captured, the suspects were identified and arrested shortly thereafter.

The case has been registered under sections 305(d) and 331(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), covering theft and trespassing charges.

In a separate incident, Vijay Nagar police arrested Betaal (28) from Guru Nagar, who was found in possession of a stolen 10 kg idol of Lord Shiv. The idol was reportedly taken from a temple in Solanki Nagar.

Authorities are continuing investigations into both cases.
