Two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at a construction company’s office in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, police reported on Tuesday.
One of the accused, Ajit Behra (28), a welder who had been employed with the company for only three months, admitted during interrogation that he became aware of the large cash deposits made monthly for labor payments. This knowledge led him to plot the robbery.
According to police, Behra orchestrated the theft of Rs10 lakh from the office in the Birsanagar police station area on November 10. He carried out the crime with the help of his accomplices — Ajay Singh alias Mota, Suraj Karwa, and Babu Sardar alias Nepu. Following Behra’s confession, police arrested Sardar from Loco Colony in the Parsudih police station area.
Investigators revealed that the stolen cash was divided among the robbers, with each reportedly receiving Rs1.15 lakh. Authorities have recovered Rs1.23 lakh, along with a country-made pistol and two live cartridges. Police stated that additional raids are ongoing to trace the remaining suspects.
