The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has uncovered a fake recruitment racket targeting job-seeking youth with promises of positions in the Territorial Army.

Acting on a confidential tip, the STF’s Agra Field Unit apprehended three suspects near ISBT in the Teepinagar area. The arrested individuals were identified as Ajay Kumar from Firozabad, Kulwant Singh from Jammu and Kashmir, and Sunil Kumar. A cache of forged documents and cash was recovered during the operation.

Confiscated items included fake Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, Ayushman Bharat cards, counterfeit appointment letters, forged medical gate passes, mobile phones, and large sums of money.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang was primarily targeting youths from Jammu and Punjab, charging up to Rs14 lakh per person for fake recruitment into the Territorial Army. The funds were traced to an account belonging to a man named Deepak Sharma.

According to STF officials, fraudulent recruitment notices were crafted with the assistance of two accomplices, Ranjit Yadav and Deepak Sharma. In return, the kingpin distributed hefty commissions for each successful deception. Authorities suspect that the group has already conned dozens of aspirants.

A formal case has been registered, and local police are continuing their investigation to track down additional members of the fraudulent network.
