Muniguda Police have cracked a high-profile theft case involving the burglary of gold, silver, and cash from a vacant residence in Munikhol village, Rayagada, reported on September 26.
After receiving a written complaint, SDPO Santosini Oram assigned a team led by IIC Saudamini Behera, SI Bikash Debnath, and ASI Jayachandra Sahu to investigate. Acting swiftly on multiple leads, the team arrested six suspects:
Ajay Bag and Sajit Karakaria from Chandili
Pramod Suna, Arman Bhatra, Pintu Takri, and Bhupendra Suna from Muniguda
During the investigation, it was found that Ajay Bag pledged the stolen gold at Indel Money, a private financial institution in Rayagada, and secured a loan of Rs3 lakh. He then transferred the money to Bhupendra Suna’s account, leading to Bhupendra’s arrest as well.
Police registered the case under Muniguda PS Case No. 193/25. In the course of the investigation, they recovered:
Rs8,000 in cash
A gold chain
Silver anklets
Other stolen ornaments
All six accused have been forwarded to court following their arrest.
SDPO Santosini Oram called the case a major breakthrough, crediting the coordinated efforts of the investigation team.
