Two persons were arrested near Aizawl with drugs valued at Rs 4 crore, officials confirmed on Monday. Acting on intelligence, personnel from the Excise and Narcotics Department, alongside the Young Mizo Association’s central anti-drugs squad, conducted a raid in the Phunchawng area.
During the operation on Sunday, officers seized 549 grams of heroin from the accused, later recovering an additional 2 kg of heroin and 9.8 kg of methamphetamine tablets over the following days. The police also confiscated a pick-up truck used to transport the drugs.
The arrested individuals, identified as C Lalramnunmawii (37) and Lalnunmawia (35), have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The Excise and Narcotics Department reported that so far this year, Mizoram has seen seizures of 26.4 kg of heroin, 67.1 kg of methamphetamine, 48 kg of crystal meth, 132.9 kg of ganja, and 945 grams of opium.
