Aimee Betro Charged with Conspiracy to Murder in Birmingham

US Citizen Faces Multiple Charges After Attempted Shooting Plot

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorized charges against Aimee Betro, a US citizen from Wisconsin, in connection with a 2019 attempted shooting in Birmingham. Betro faces multiple charges, including conspiracy to murder, after allegedly plotting to kill the owner of a Birmingham clothing store and his family on 8 September 2019.

Along with co-defendants Mohammed Nazir and Mohammed Aslam, Betro is accused of conspiring to murder the victim and his family between 21 August and 10 September 2019. She is also charged with possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and fraudulently importing ammunition.

Betro, who was extradited from Armenia to the UK, will appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on 17 January 2025. The case highlights international collaboration in prosecuting serious crimes.
