The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) of Ahmedabad conducted a late-night raid on Juhapura-Sarkhej Road near Blue Water Tower on Saturday, seizing MD drugs worth Rs9.79 lakh. The operation led to the arrest of Altaf Sheikh, the prime accused, and a second individual who was there to receive the consignment.

According to authorities, Altaf Sheikh was sourcing MD from Rajasthan through a supplier named Mama and distributing it across Ahmedabad. The second suspect was caught at the scene while attempting to collect the drugs.

Acting on a tip-off, the SMC team set up a trap after learning that a drug exchange was set to take place in an open plot near a residential complex. As expected, two SUVs arrived at the location, and the suspects were apprehended red-handed during the transaction.

The authorities are now continuing their investigation into a larger drug trafficking network between Rajasthan and Gujarat, with further arrests likely as the operation progresses.
