Ahmedabad Police Bust Honey-Trap Gang, Arrests 4 Including Woman

Gang Robbed Man of Rs 5 Lakh Using Fake Cops and Honey-Trap Scheme

by Ananya Mehta

In a swift operation, Ahmedabad Rural Police recently dismantled a honey-trap gang that had successfully robbed a 45-year-old man employed with an insurance company. The man, who was lured into a scam by a woman he met on social media, was robbed of Rs 5 lakh and his ATM cards near Nalsarovar.

The victim, after connecting with a woman on a social media app, agreed to meet her for a drive near Nalsarovar on November 22. The woman, who identified herself as married and working in a beauty parlour, initiated physical intimacy in the car.

While they were parked, a group of men arrived, posing as police officers. The gang—comprising Nasir Jasraya from Jamnagar, Sahil Vaghela from Rajkot, and Raj Kotai from Jamnagar—intimidated the victim and seized his ATM cards, along with Rs 5 lakh in cash.

The victim immediately reported the incident to Nalsarovar Police Station, leading to the involvement of the Special Operations Group (SOG) and Local Crime Branch (LCB). After intense investigation, police arrested the entire gang, including Kauser alias Jiya alias Khushi Pinjara, the woman who had set up the victim for the trap.

Upon further questioning, it was revealed that the gang had targeted several victims using the same modus operandi. The police disclosed that the woman would engage men on social media and lure them to isolated locations, where her accomplices would then rob the victims. The gang deliberately avoided areas with CCTV cameras to avoid detection.

A police official explained, “The gang avoided escorting the victim to a hotel to prevent being captured on CCTV. Instead, Kauser would lure the men to isolated spots, where the rest of the gang would execute the robbery.”

Ongoing Investigation
The Ahmedabad Rural Police have confirmed that the gang’s operation is broader, and more arrests may be made as the investigation progresses. The authorities have urged people to be cautious about interacting with strangers on social media and advised them to report suspicious behavior promptly.
