The Ahmedabad Crime Branch on Wednesday arrested three men accused in a brutal triple murder case in Ajmer, which erupted from a bitter chicken price war between rival meat sellers.
According to case details, on August 15, chicken meat sellers Shahnawaz Khan and Imran Khan were viciously attacked and hacked to death by a rival group. The conflict began after Irfan Rahim lowered chicken prices and shared the new rates on the Qureshi Jamat WhatsApp group, angering Abdul Ali Qureshi, the rival group leader. Abdul Ali reportedly gathered 13 armed accomplices who stormed Irfan’s shop and attacked him, his brother Imran, and nephews Shahnawaz, Shahrukh, and Salman. Imran and Shahnawaz later died from multiple stab wounds despite treatment.
In retaliation, members of the victims’ group tracked down Gulam Nasiruddin Qureshi, one of the accused, and crushed him to death under a car.
The Ahmedabad Crime Branch received a tip-off on August 26 about three prime suspects — Allahrakkha Qureshi (25), Oves Qureshi (20), and Salman Qureshi (29) — checking into a hotel in Ahmedabad’s Walled City. Police confirmed their presence and arrested the trio. Ajmer police were contacted, and they took custody of the accused late Wednesday night.
The investigation continues into this violent clash fueled by fierce competition in the local meat market.
