The Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has successfully apprehended two individuals involved in an inter-state gang responsible for stealing bikes from both Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The stolen bikes, worth a total of Rs6.3 lakh, have been recovered, and the accused have been handed over to the authorities for further legal proceedings.
The bikes were taken from the Chandkheda area in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar Sector-7. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ashish alias Asu Devilal Phera and Sunil alias Kalu Mohanlal Coated, both residents of Udaipur, Rajasthan. In addition, a juvenile accomplice has also been apprehended and handed back to his guardians.
Among the recovered items are a variety of sports bikes, including a red Yamaha R15 valued at Rs1,80,000, a blue Yamaha R15 worth Rs1,80,000, a grey Yamaha R15 priced at Rs1,00,000, a white and saffron KTM 125 CC worth Rs1,20,000, and a black Bajaj Pulsar 220 valued at Rs50,000. In total, the recovered bikes are valued at Rs6,30,000.
The Crime Branch is continuing its investigation, focusing on identifying other members of the gang and determining their involvement in additional bike thefts.
This arrest follows a similar case earlier this year, in which Hitesh Jain was apprehended for stealing 168 two-wheelers for personal joyrides, not for resale. Jain would steal the vehicles, ride them for fun, and abandon them, leaving authorities with 30 seized cars and evidence of his involvement in multiple thefts across Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar since 2015.
