The city police’s anti-narcotics cell arrested 45-year-old Ahmed Wahid Khan from Laxminagar, Yerwada, on Wednesday, recovering 110 grams of mephedrone (MD) valued at Rs 22 lakh. The arrest followed a tip-off about Khan’s presence in the area.

Led by Inspector Sudarshan Gaikwad and Assistant Inspector Nitinkumar Naik, the police team frisked Khan and found the narcotics in his possession.

Authorities are now on the lookout for the man who supplied the drugs to Khan, suspecting the narcotics were smuggled from Gujarat to Pune.

According to Inspector Gaikwad, Khan previously worked as a driver in Qatar and now resides with his mother in Pune after quitting his job. He reportedly has no prior criminal record.

“The other suspect linked to this case has a criminal history involving house burglaries and is now suspected of being involved in drug trafficking,” Gaikwad added.
