IRAN – Two Baluch men, Ahmad Harooni and Sadegh Gorgij, have been arrested by Iranian security forces in the southeastern cities of Iranshahr and Zahedan, with no information available about their current location.

According to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Ahmad Harooni, a resident of Chah Jamal (Iranshahr), was detained by Iranian military forces. His arrest came amid reported clashes in the area between the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the Jaish al-Adl, a Sunni Baloch militant group.

Harooni was taken from outside his home without a warrant or explanation of charges. Since his detention, he has not contacted his family, and all attempts by relatives to get updates from authorities have been unsuccessful.

A day earlier, on Tuesday, August 26, Sadegh Gorgij was arrested in Shiroabad, a neighborhood in Zahedan, by plainclothes security officers. He was inside his vehicle when he was apprehended, again without a warrant or explanation. Gorgij has since been transferred to an unknown location.

Both cases are being described by rights organizations as enforced disappearances, and they have raised alarms about the targeting of the Baluch minority in Iran.
