In a major anti-narcotics operation, the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) in Jaipur seized ganja worth Rs5 crore hidden inside a secret compartment of a container truck smuggling the contraband from Odisha to Rajasthan.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Subhash Gurjar and Pramod Gurjar, both residents of Sikar district in Rajasthan.
According to ADG (Crime) Dinesh M.N., the AGTF received a tip-off about a large consignment of ganja being transported to Rajasthan for delivery to two well-known drug lords from the Shekhawati region — Raju Pachalangi and Gokul.
Acting on the intelligence, the AGTF, in coordination with the Jhunjhunu District Special Task Force (DST), established a checkpoint in the Udaipurwati area late Thursday night.
Under the supervision of ASP Siddhant Sharma, the team intercepted a suspicious container truck. Though nothing was visible in the initial search, a detailed inspection uncovered a hidden chamber behind the driver’s seat filled with 1,014 kilograms of ganja.
Both accused were taken into custody on the spot. The truck and the entire consignment were seized. The estimated market value of the drugs is Rs5 crore, underscoring the magnitude of the operation.
The AGTF continues to investigate the broader drug trafficking network to identify other accomplices and trace the supply chain from Odisha to Rajasthan.
“This is a major success for our task force and partner agencies. The arrested individuals will face charges under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,” said ADG Dinesh M.N.
Officials noted that the seizure will likely disrupt major drug syndicates in the Shekhawati region and serve as a strong deterrent to traffickers attempting to smuggle narcotics into Rajasthan.
