A shocking incident occurred in Barhan, Agra, where a woman allegedly attacked her brother-in-law, Yogesh, causing critical injuries. He was rushed to SN Medical College and later referred to AIIMS Delhi.
Yogesh, an engineer with Ultratech in Haldwani, had returned home for Diwali. The incident reportedly took place late Monday night at Khedi Adu village. The accused, Archana, is married to Yogesh’s elder brother, Raj Bahadur.
Family members told police that Archana allegedly wanted Yogesh to marry her sister. Yogesh’s marriage was already fixed elsewhere. Upset, Archana reportedly lured him to her room after the Diwali puja and attacked him with a sharp weapon.
Family members intervened upon hearing his screams and rushed him to the hospital. Archana and her husband have since moved to her parental home in Etah with their three children. Both Archana and Raj Bahadur are being questioned by police.
An FIR has not yet been registered, but Barhan police have launched an investigation. Villagers have speculated about the motive, while authorities are probing all angles.
This is the second reported incident of its kind in the region, with a similar assault occurring on October 16 over a marriage dispute.
