by Ananya Mehta

A 31-year-old man from Vatva, along with his two friends, fell victim to a Rs 48.75 lakh scam involving fake work-permit visas for Australia and New Zealand. The trio approached an agent named Ois Ali Hasanwala Zara through Instagram in 2023, hoping to secure legitimate visas.

Initially, Hasanwala promised Australian work-permit visas at Rs 15 lakh each. When their applications were allegedly rejected, he offered to arrange New Zealand work permits for Rs 18 lakh per person, demanding Rs 1.5 lakh upfront. The victims transferred the money, only to discover later that the visas were fraudulent.

An FIR has been registered at Naroda Police Station, and investigations are ongoing to bring the accused to justice.
