Agartala: Acting on specific intelligence from the Government Railway Police (GRP), a secret operation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) was conducted at Agartala Railway Station on Saturday, March 14, 2026.
During the operation, two drug peddlers were arrested, and a total of 26.575 kg of purported ganja was seized from their possession.
The arrested individuals were identified as Abdul Kadir (30), son of Abdul Rasid of Indira Nagar, Ward No. 09, Melaghar, Sepahijala district, and Dipak Sarkar (37), son of Subal Sarkar of Palatana, Ward No. 04, Kakraban, Gomati district. The drugs were recovered from trolley and pitthu bags in the parking area between the RPF Post Agartala and the pay-and-use toilet.
The seized ganja is valued at approximately Rs3 lakh in the black market. A case has been registered against the accused under Agartala GRPS case no-2026GRP015, U/S 20(b)(ii)(C)/29 of the NDPS Act, 1985.
Inspector Raju Bhowmik, Officer-in-Charge of Agartala Railway Police Station, stated that operations against illegal contraband will continue to ensure public safety and prevent drug trafficking.
