Two men, Afzal Sayyad (29) of Bhagur and Vikas alias Vikky Sudhakjar Patekar (32) from Sant Kabirnagar, Gangapur Road, were arrested by the Crime Branch on charges of multiple house burglaries that led to theft of cash and valuables worth over Rs9 lakh in the Deolaligaon area.

The break-ins occurred on June 21, prompting the Upnagar police to register a case. Upon arrival, officers scoured nearly 90 CCTV cameras to identify suspects who were seen wearing raincoats and covering their faces as they entered the targeted bungalows.

After carefully analyzing the footage, the police tracked and trapped the suspects, leading to their arrests.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to the recent burglaries and also confessed to a similar crime committed in June last year at Anandwali, Gangapur Road.

The police have recovered stolen items including jewellery and a motorcycle valued at Rs64,000 so far.

The investigation continues as authorities explore possible links to other unsolved thefts in the region.
