In a major breakthrough, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has dismantled a daytime burglary gang and apprehended two individuals, including a major burglar and a Child in Conflict with Law (CCL) from Sector 10/11 near Japanese Park, Rohini.

One of the accused was identified as Aftab alias Sukha (22). The team from Crime Branch Northern Range-I recovered 53 high-end mobile phones and housebreaking tools from the accused, indicating their involvement in widespread thefts and burglaries across Chirag Delhi, Saket, Mehrauli, and Dwarka.

So far, 30 of the recovered phones have been linked to FIRs and lost mobile complaints registered across Delhi-NCR. The arrests were made under Sections 35(1)(c) and 106 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS).

In a separate incident, two minors (aged 17 and 15) were arrested in connection with a firing and extortion attempt in Delhi’s Mukundpur area on July 10. According to the police, the minors approached Heera Devi (45) and demanded Rs30,000 per month in extortion. When she refused, one of them opened fire — injuring her 18-year-old daughter Nisha, who sustained a gunshot wound on her upper left arm.

The accused fled but were traced to DDA Flats, JJ Colony, Bhalswa Dairy, through local intelligence and technical surveillance. A country-made pistol and a live 7.65 mm cartridge were recovered.

Investigations revealed that the 17-year-old accused had a prior criminal record involving murder and robbery. He admitted to involvement in the September 2024 murder of Amit alias Langda, carried out with Vivek alias Tilla and Shivchandan alias Pandit (currently in jail).

Pandit, from jail, allegedly instructed Tilla to extort money from Heera Devi and fire if she resisted. Tilla then directed the juvenile to execute the plan.

The minors were booked under Sections 308(4) & 61(2) of BNS, and further investigation is ongoing to trace all connections in both cases.
