In a major crackdown on narcotics, Delhi Police arrested three alleged drug peddlers, including a 23-year-old woman, and seized over 1 kg of heroin valued at Rs4 crore.
According to DCP (Outer North) Hareshwar V Swami, the operation was initiated based on a tip-off about drug trafficking near Bhalswa Dairy. A police team conducted a raid and apprehended Afsana, a resident of Jahangirpuri, from Kalandra Colony service road. She was found in possession of 300 grams of heroin, a quantity deemed commercial under the NDPS Act.
Following Afsana’s arrest, her interrogation led to further raids. Two more suspects—Narender (37) and his wife Jyoti alias Manshi (35)—were arrested. The couple resided in Raj Kanhiya Apartment, Himgiri Enclave, Burari.
Police nabbed Narender near the Transport Authority office in Burari with his scooty, while Jyoti was arrested from their apartment. A search of their home led to the seizure of 712 grams of heroin in multiple packets (52g, 470g, 170g, and 20g).
The total narcotic haul stands at 1.012 kg of heroin, valued at over Rs4 crore in the illegal market. Sections 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act have been added to the case for conspiracy and use of premises for drug trafficking.
While the trio had no prior criminal records, investigators believe they were linked to a broader supply chain. The probe to uncover more members of this network is ongoing.
