RICHMOND HILL, ONT. — Two suspects are in custody and a third remains at large following an armed robbery at a cellphone store in a Richmond Hill mall on Canada Day, according to York Regional Police.
Officers responded to a robbery call around 4 p.m. on July 1 in the Yonge Street and Carrville Road area.
According to a police statement, two masked suspects entered the store—one armed with a knife, the other believed to be carrying a firearm. They stole multiple cellphones and fled the scene in a waiting getaway vehicle.
Two employees were present during the robbery but fortunately suffered no serious injuries.
Police quickly located and began surveilling the suspect vehicle, which was tracked to Toronto. There, officers made arrests and recovered the allegedly stolen merchandise.
The suspects taken into custody have been identified as:
Adun Tenseaw, 22, of Toronto
Rashaun Tarence Bennett, 30, of Brampton
Both face multiple charges, including:
Robbery
Disguise with Intent
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
The third suspect, believed to be the getaway driver, remains at large. Authorities have not yet released a description.
York Regional Police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.
