HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A Michigan man has been sentenced to more than nine years in federal prison for distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine in Huntington, according to court records.
Adrian Demetrius Ludaway, 35, also known as “A1,” of Wayne, Michigan, was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to federal drug distribution charges. In court, Ludaway admitted that on Feb. 27, 2025, he sold approximately 28.5 grams of methamphetamine and 6.79 grams of fentanyl to a confidential informant. He also acknowledged arranging the transaction ahead of time.
Law enforcement officers arrested Ludaway on May 30, 2025, and executed a search warrant at his 30th Street residence in Huntington. During the search, authorities seized approximately four pounds of fentanyl, about 100 grams of cocaine base, commonly known as crack cocaine, a loaded Charter Arms Undercover .38-caliber revolver, and roughly $20,000 in cash.
Ludaway’s co-defendant, Scott Burd, 59, of Huntington, pleaded guilty on Nov. 24, 2025, to aiding and abetting the distribution of fentanyl. Burd is scheduled to be sentenced on March 2, 2026.
Federal prosecutors stated that the case was part of Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge, a targeted enforcement initiative aimed at reducing the availability of deadly synthetic opioids in high-impact communities.
