LINCOLN, Neb. — A third suspect in a June robbery at Holmes Lake, 21-year-old Adonis Jones, was arrested Friday and lodged in Lancaster County Jail. Jones faces multiple charges including robbery, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, possession of a stolen firearm, use of a firearm to commit a felony, and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Lincoln Police apprehended Jones after a brief foot chase near 9th and Washington streets. This arrest follows the previous detainment of two teenagers — 18-year-old Anania Ruba and 17-year-old Shaddy Galab — who will be charged as adults.

The robbery occurred on June 22, shortly after 9 p.m., when two victims aged 20 and 21 reported being robbed by Galab and two others they knew. According to police, the 21-year-old victim showed a firearm to the group, after which all three suspects brandished their own firearms, stealing the victim’s firearm, phone, cash, and keys. They also took the 20-year-old victim’s phone before fleeing.

On June 26, officers stopped Galab at 33rd and U streets and recovered the stolen handgun from his vehicle during a probable cause search.

Ruba was arrested on July 2 after a search warrant was served at his apartment near 27th and South streets. Investigators found two loaded handguns, digital scales, cash, packaging materials, and illegal drugs.

During the investigation, police uncovered text messages between Galab and Ruba outlining their plan to rob the victims. Court documents also reference a photo of Ruba shortly after the robbery, showing him holding cash and a handgun.

The Lincoln Police Department continues to investigate the case.
