Adolfo Denis Jr. Arrested for Attempted Murder After Crashing into Pinecrest Officer
Pinecrest police have arrested 24-year-old Adolfo Denis Jr. following a violent incident in which he crashed an off-road vehicle into Officer Andres Garcia, a five-year veteran of the force and U.S. Army veteran.
The incident occurred Saturday night near Southwest 104th Street and Dixie Highway around 9 p.m., when Denis was part of a group of up to seven off-road vehicles attempting to take over the road. Police tried to make contact, but Denis sped away, striking Officer Garcia’s foot and pinning him between his police car and the vehicle.
Garcia fired his weapon during the confrontation, discharging several rounds, though no one was hit. Denis fled, prompting an 18-mile police pursuit that ended in Southwest Miami-Dade after officers used a PIT maneuver to stop him.
Denis faces multiple charges, including attempted second-degree murder of a law enforcement officer, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and aggravated battery on an officer.
The injured officer was treated for minor injuries and has since been released from the hospital. Two other individuals were detained but later released pending investigation.
The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating the case. Denis is expected to appear in court soon.
